СБУ попередила черговий епізод гібридної агресії Російської Федерації проти України. Зірвано наміри іноземної спецслужби використати мережу з понад десяти інтернет-сайтів для поширення серед українців російської пропаганди та деструктивних матеріалів, що містять окремі заклики до скоєння злочинів, розслідування яких віднесено до компетенції органів державної безпеки. За отриманими даними, наприкінці 2014 року під час перебування громадянина України на заробітках у Росії у нього було викрадено паспорт на залізничному вокзалі Воронежа перед самим поверненням додому. Дану обставину вміло використали співробітники ворожої спецслужби. За викраденим у заробітчанина паспортом було зареєстрованого близько десяти інтернет-сайтів. Цей інформаційний ресурс країна-агресор почала використовувати як елемент гібридної війни для дестабілізації ситуації в Україні. Вжитими СБ України заходами сайти були заблоковані. Громадянин України відмовився від роботи в РФ через загрозу провокацій російських спецслужб. У продовж січня – червня 2017 року СБУ стосовно власників та (або) адміністраторів спільнот у соціальних мережах «ВКонтакте» та «Одноклассники», які поширювали заклики до повалення конституційного ладу та державної влади в країні, проведення масових заворушень та інших протиправних дій, зареєстровано 34 кримінальні провадження, 27-ми особам оголошено про підозру та винесено 27 обвинувальних вироків суду за ознаками вчинення злочинів передбачених ст. 109 (дії спрямовані на насильницьку зміну чи повалення конституційного ладу або захоплення державної влади), ст. 110 (посягання на територіальну цілісність і недоторканність України) та ст. 258-3 (створення терористичної групи чи терористичної організації) Кримінального кодексу України.
