Мариупольский ФК «Ильичевец»переименован в рамках декоммунизации. Клуб, который в этом сезоне вышел в Премьер-лигу, будет выступать под названием ФК «Мариуполь».
Об этом сообщается на сайте ФК.
Новое название выбрали в ходе интернет-опроса. Предлагались варианты «Мариуполь», «Металлург», «Приазовье», «Кальмиус», «Локомотив», «Новатор», «Меотида».
Вместе с новым названием клуб решил поменять логотип, на котором будет чайка (неформальный символ команды) и, возможно, якорь (символ Мариуполя).
Напомним, что под названием «Ильичевец» маруипольская команда выступала с 2003 года, когда генеральным спонсором ФК стал металлургический комбинат имени Ильича. Примечательно, что сам ММК фактически саботировал декоммунизацию и оставил «Ильича» в названии. Комбинат заявил, что сменил трактовку и теперь под «Ильичом» имеется в виду металлург Зот Ильич Некрасов, а не Владимир Ильич Ленин.
ФК «Мариуполь» был основан в 1960 году как «Азовсталь», за последние 57 лет он сменил целый ряд названий. Дольше всего он был «Новатором» (1976-1992), «Ильичевцем» (2002-2017), «Металлургом» (1971-1974 и 1996-2002).
